5.3 Adding a Controller

Open the right tab and tap Add Controller. Fill in the fields below; only the fields that apply to that controller type are shown. Fields already filled in hold sensible defaults — leave them as they are unless you have a reason to change them.

Filled in from the tab you started on. It cannot be changed.
Controller Name
All except Database
A name for the controller. Required, up to 200 characters. For a database this field is called Database Table Name (see Database).

What the controller is, for example "Mixing line". Required, up to 200 characters.
IP Address
All
The controller's address on the network, as four numbers separated by dots, for example 192.168.1.10. Required. For a database it is filled in automatically from the connection string.
Station
Modbus TCP
The device's station (unit) number. Default 1.
Data Format
Modbus TCP
The word order for values held in two or more registers (see Modbus TCP). Default CDAB.
Address Starts With Zero
Modbus TCP
Whether the device numbers its registers from zero. On by default.
Connection String
Database
How to reach the database (see Database).
Timestamp
Database
The column that shows which row is the latest. Default inserted.
Rack
Rockwell and Siemens
The rack number of the processor. Default 0.
Slot
Rockwell and Siemens
The slot number of the processor. Default 0.
Port
All
The network port. Filled in with the default for the controller type (see Controller Types).
Connection Timeout
All
How long to wait for the controller to answer, in milliseconds. Default 3000 (3 seconds).
Is Active
All
When on, the controller's tags can be monitored. When off, the controller and all its tags are left out of monitoring.
The Save button stays grey until every required field is filled in correctly, and turns green when the form is ready. Tap Save to add the controller. If anything is missing, the message Please fill in the required fields, you may need to scroll down appears — scroll down to find the field marked in red.
Tap Cancel, or the back arrow, to leave without saving.
