| Choose the data type that matches the address. For a PLC, the data type tells PlcEcho how to read the value held at the tag's address. The wrong type can show a wrong value rather than an error, so check a new tag's reading against a value you already know.
Every type is numeric except true/false types (BOOL, BOOLEAN, BIT), text types (STRING, NVARCHAR, ASCII) and DATETIME. Tags of these types are shown in the list with their value, but their gauge is greyed out and they are not drawn on trend charts. You can still select them for a trend — they simply do not appear on the chart.
